WUHAN, China (June 26, 2023) - Wuhan Optoelectronics Forum No. 186 was successfully held in Auditorium C111 at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) in June 26. Prof Jingyuan Chen delivered an inspiring speech entitled A concept of double layer capacitance motivated by nanotechnology. Prof. Yan Shen chaired the forum, Prof. Fei Wu, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of WNLO awarded Prof Jingyuan Chen the forum medal.
Professor Jingyuan Chenpresentedthe research in nano-electrode, multiphase dispersion system and double layer capacitor. Shemainlyintroducedthatthe specificity of the nanoregion reaction can be interpreted to include Fick's first law delay when using nanoelectrodes as probes, clarified that the diffusion delay reflected the delay of ion conduction, and developed a measurement method that can directly detected the dynamic behavior. The Gouy-Chapman theory, which only considers the capacitance induced by the ionic distribution, has been questioned, and the study of the double layer capacitance has been advanced from both theoretical and experimental points of view.
Professor Jingyuan Chen graduated from Tianjin University of Science and Technology in 1982. She received her PhD degree from University of Fukui in 1996, supervised by Prof. Koichi Aoki. She aiming to solving “fundamental subjects of basic electrochemistry”.She worked as a lecturer at school of Faculty of Science in Kanazawa University and as a visiting scholar at Henry White's laboratory in University of Utah. Then she return to Japan, was employed as an associate professor at Aoki’s laboratory in University of Fukui and was appointed as a full professor of Applied Physics in 2017. She was awarded an honorary professor in 2023, dedicated to education and research in interface physics and fundamental electrochemistry. Up to now, he has authored/coauthored 112 peer-reviewed papers in major international journals. During these activities, she has educated and supervised 85 international students, 75 of whom are from China.
