WUHAN, China (June 2, 2017) - Wuhan Optoelectronics Forum No. 125 was successfully held in Auditorium A101 at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) in the morning of June 2. Prof. Jianping Chen from Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered an exciting talk entitled Photonic Analog-to-digital Conversion Technology. Dr. Jian Wang, from Optoelectronic Devices and Integration Division of WNLO chaired the forum. Prof. Xinliang Zhang, Deputy Director of WNLO, awarded Prof. Chen the forum medal.
Photonic analog-to-digital converter (PADC) can make full use of the advantages of photonics, such as ultrahigh speed and low timing jitter. It can effectively cope with challenges its electronic counterpart is facing and may find wide applications in broadband signal processing for communications systems and advanced equipment. Time-wavelength interleaving and time-stretch are two typical technologies for PADCs. This presentation talks about their principle, key issues and implementation methods. Recent advance and future development will also be introduced.
Jianping Chen, PhD and Professor, State key laboratory of advanced optical communication systems and networks, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interest covers silicon photonic integration, photonic signal processing and system applications. He is a Principal Scientist of the 973 project and PIs for several projects funded by MOST and NSFC of China. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals and holds more than 30 patents. He received the 2009 National Award on Education (second prize). Presently he serves as a member of the discipline review group of the seventh Degree Committee of the State Council and the Secretary-general of Academic Committee, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
