Wuhan Optoelectronics Forum 70:Fuel cells: from electrocatalysis to critical materials

Time:Jan 4, 2019

Title:Fuel cells: from electrocatalysis to critical materials

Speaker: Prof. Lin Zhuang

Time:Dec.18. 2012.10:00-12:00

Venue: Room A101 At WNLO

Abstract:

In this talk, I will introduce our recent research on fuel cell material and catalysis. Emphasis will be put on the efforts of combining density functional theory (DFT) calculation, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, and electrochemical experiment to further our understanding of the structure-activity relationship of catalysts and alkaline polymer electrolytes. Topics will include: Structural and activity degradation of 1nmPt particle; activating Pd catalysts by electronic effects and morphology tailoring; alkaline polymer electrolyte fuel cells using non-precious metal catalysts.

Biography:

Prof. Lin Zhuang earned his Ph.D. (1998) in electrochemistry at Wuhan University, after then he joined the Department of Chemistry at Wuhan University and became a full professor in 2003. He was a research scholar at Cornell University (2004-2005). He served as a vice-chair of Physical Electrochemistry Division of the International Society of Electrochemistry (2011-2012) and the chair of China section of the Electrochemical Society (2010-2011). He was a recipient of Distinguished Young Scholar Award of NSFC (2011), Young Electrochemist Award of China (2007), and Young Chemist Award of Chinese Society of Chemistry (2004). He has been working on fuel-cell catalysis and materials in last decade.
