Special Issue on Optical Coherence Tomography and its Applications
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is one of the fastest developing medical imaging technologies in the last decade due to its non-invasive and non-contact imaging modality. With an ability to perform “optical biopsy” and provide microscopic structural resolution (1 to 10µm), OCT has been widely used in scientific research as well as clinical diagnosis and management of various diseases, including ophthalmology, dermatology, etc. Furthermore, recent developments such as optical coherence tomography based angiography (OCTA) has extended OCT applications from pure structural imaging to functional imaging, pushing the OCT development into a new height. Despite decades of development, OCT still face challenges and is still in its infancy in many areas.
The purpose of this special issue is to highlight these latest developments in both OCT technologies and practical applications. The special issue calls for experts in the field of OCT to discuss the most recent breakthroughs and potential impacts in related research fields. Original research papers and review articles are both welcome. Manuscripts will be internationally peer-reviewed. Topics we specifically seek to cover include but are not limited to the following:
OCT systems, theory, image processing techniques
OCT angiography
novel contrast mechanisms
clinical applications of OCT
