Call for Papers
Special Issue on Polarization of Light in Biomedical Applications
The use of polarization of light in biomedical applications is an emerging research area with significant progress achieved in the recent years. Recent progress in using polarized light in biomedical applications is attracting high interests both in academy and industry. The development and clinical implementation of polarization-based optical imaging and diagnostic modalities, as well as translation of technologies developed in the neighbour fields, e.g. ellipsometry, astrophysics, photo-elastography, and other, to the needs of biomedicine provides more opportunities to healthcare professionals and extends significantly the diagnostic toolkit.
The aim of this special issue is to highlight the most recent work and developments in the field of Polarized Light in Biomedical Applications, including fundamental, clinical and pre-clinical studies, as well as the results of new explorations related to the use of polarized light in life sciences and for health care needs. Research papers, review articles, short communications and clinical case studies are very welcomed to be submitted and highly appreciated. All manuscripts will be internationally peer-reviewed. We solicit papers covering various topics of interest that include, but are not limited to the following:
PROPERTIES OF TISSUES
Tissue scattering and depolarization
Tissue birefringence, diattenuation, Poincare sphere
