Photonics West 2022 was held in San Francisco from January 22 to 27, 2022. This year, experts and scholars can attend the conference online for pandemic prevention reasons.
In January 22, Professor Zhu Dan, from Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), gave a plenary talk titled Tissue Optical Clearing Imaging: in vitro to in vivo through Zoom in BiOS Hot Topics, which makes her the second scholar from Chinese mainland to be invited in this Topics, after Professor Luo Qingming in 2018. In the talk, Professor Zhu showed her research progress in tissue optical clearing imaging, including the whole organ imaging based on in vitro tissue clearing method, and the dynamic monitoring of neurons and blood vessels in mice cortex through the skull clearing window her team has developed.
Being the largest international conference in the field of optoelectronics, Photonics West features approximately 25 plenary speakers each year to present on a wide range of frontier research topics and attracts more than 20,000 attendees. BiOS Hot Topics is the most important biomedical optics conference in the field and also the largest session among the 4 Topics of Photonics West. “Every year, attendees look forward to Saturday Night BiOS Hot Topics”, quoted SPIE, “an evening spent hearing highly engaged, world renowned speakers reveal the latest innovations in their areas of expertise. Don’t miss this year’s outstanding list of speakers.”
This year, among the 10 speakers invited in this Topics, only 2 scholars are from outside the United States, including Professor Zhu and Professor Osamu Matoba, from Kobe University in Japan, who also delivered an online presentation.
