WUHAN, China (October 23, 2021) - Wuhan Optoelectronics Forum No. 179 was successfully held in Auditorium C111 at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) in the morning of October 23. Prof. Jianghua Chen from Hunan University delivered an exciting talk entitled"Application of the latest Transmission Electron Microscope Techniques to Studying the physical metallurgy". Prof. Xiaoyan Zeng from WNLO chaired the forum.Prof.Dan Zhu awarded Prof. Jianghua Chen the forum medal.
In this talk, Prof.Jianghua Chen introduced the development of Transmission Electron Microscope Techniques, as well as the detailed applications of advanced characterization techniques in the field of materials science. Additionally, he pointed out that the combination of spherically corrected high-resolution TEM and spherically corrected scanning TEM (STEM) can help us to re-visualize the reinforcing phases that occur in important alloys and clarify the controversies left over from the past regarding their precipitation behaviors. He took a typical high-strength aluminum alloy as an example, and revealed the composition and microstructure evolution laws of the fine strengthening phase in the alloy on the atomic scale. Finally, He gave a brief introduction to the quantitative atomic imaging and analysis platform system developed by his team.
Prof.Jianghua Chen is a professor of Hunan University, a doctoral supervisor, a distinguished professor of the "Yangtze River Scholar" of the Ministry of Education, a distinguished expert of the Thousand Talents Program, the head of the first batch of "Huang Danian Teacher Team" of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Material Science Department of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education, and Asia Pacific Academy of Materials Science Academician, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He has made outstanding achievements in the theories and methods of materials science and electron microscopy. Published papers in more than 20 well-known journals such as Science, Nature Materials, Acta Materialia, etc. In 2016, he was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker". He serves and has served on the executive boards of numerous national academic organizations and on the editorial boards of national and international academic journals.
